HOST 2001 Schedule

Week 1

June 25-30:   Five day introductory course at the Motte Rimrock Reserve for all HOST 2001 Teachers.  Teachers will become familiar with the NRS and its missions.  They will learn about the many facets of science, how people learn about science, and how to teach sciecne, with emphasis on the field.  

Week 2

July 2-6:  Individual training at different HOST reserves.  Each HOST teacher at a different reserve.

Week 3

July 9-13:  Individual training at different HOST reserves.  Each HOST teacher at a different reserve.

Week 4

July 16-19:   Four day Midpoint Workshop at Burns Piņon Ridge Reserve for all HOST 2001 Teachers. Teachers will begin working on their teaching materials and learn some basic, practical hands-on field skills. 

Week 5

July 23-27:  Individual training at different HOST reserves.  Each HOST teacher at a different reserve.

Week 6

July 30-August 3:  Individual training at different HOST reserves.  Each HOST teacher at a different reserve.

Week 7

August 6-10:  Individual training at different HOST reserves.  Each HOST teacher at a different reserve.

Week 8

August 14-16:  Three day follow-up workshop at the Bodega Marine Reserve for all HOST 2001 Teachers.   Teachers will present slide shows depicting their HOST reserves and training.  They will also present their teaching materials and take part in program evaluations.  They will begin preparing their schedules for resereve field trips with their students.
