Reserve use is restricted to research and educational activities and is limited to individuals or small groups. Users must obtain permission from the reserve manager before visiting the site.

Accommodations (office, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom) in the reserve field station may be available by prior arrangement at a nominal cost.
A small fee is charged for use of the campground. Fires are permitted only during favorable weather conditions and are restricted to the campground fire ring. Collecting firewood is not allowed.
Only foot travel is permitted on the reserve. Any object that is disturbed should be restored to its original position to protect the life sheltered there.
In addition, reserve users must:

coordinate all field trips and research projects with the reserve manager; |

obtain permits from appropriate state and federal agencies for any collection or manipulation of plants, animals, or archaeological resources; |
|
|
contribute to the Burns database a written summary or published report of research conducted at the reserve. |
